LONAVALA & KHANDALA: Situated smack in the middle of the busy Mumbai-Pune highway are the two charming hill stations of Lonavala & Khandala. Discovered in 1871, it is located at an altitude of 625 mts. They come into their own during the monsoons. When the clouds envelope the entire townships, the hills get covered by a lush of green carpet and the waterfalls castade down like pure silver streams. Khandala (124 km from Mumbai, 70 km from Pune) is separated from Lonavala by 4.5 km and a valley on one hand and a lofty will on the other. The Duke's Nose dominates the skyline.
