122 kms from Nashik and 296 km frqm Mumbai lies the small village of Shirdi. Famous throughout
Maharashtra as the home of the revered Saint -Sai Baba. An ascetic, who preached tolerance
towards all religions and the message of universal brotherhood. Sai Baba is widely believed
to be the in- carnation of Guru Dattatraya. Every activity in Shirdi revolves around the vast
temple complex dedicated to the saint's memory. Thursdays are especially auspicious andis marked
by special 'pujas' and darshans . Sai Baba attained samadhi on Dasshera day, act 15th 1918.
Also visit the Dwarkamai mosque, Gurustan, the Khandoba temple, Shani Mandir. There are various
Dharmashalas(rest houses) which provide food and accomodation at nominal rates. There are also
luxury hotels for the more affluent tourist.
