Music & Musical Instruments

Rhythm House looks like a trendy new music store but it began life selling jukeboxes and gramophones way back in 1938. It makes the guest appearance as the Rhythm Centre in Salman Rushdie's novel The Ground Beneath Her Feet. The store has a huge selection of Hindi film songs, Marathi and Gujarati music, ghazals (sad Urdu love songs), Carnatic and Hindustani classical music and Indian pop. It also has a decent selection of jazz and blues. This is a good place to get tickets to live music events in Mumbai.

Crossword and Nalanda also stock CDs oflndian and western music.

Singh Musical Instruments sells tablas and sitars, along with handy self-instruction manuals. You can also purchase guitars and guitar strings here.
