Munnar

Location : Situated in Idukki district at an altitude of 5000 to 8000 feet above sea level

One of the prominent hill stations in India, Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams namely Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. A popualr resort town with sprawling tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities Munnar was the summer resort of the ertswhile British Government in South India. Among the exotic flora found in the forests and grasslands here is the Neelakurinji.

This flower which bathes the hills in blue every twelve years will bloom next in 2006 AD. Anamudi the highest peak in South India, towering over 2695m is also in Munnar. Around Munnar there are several exotic locations like Mattupetty, Eravikulam, Rajamala etc.

Getting there : Munnar is accessible by road from Ernakulam and Kottayam.
