Bars :
Most of the pubs are fairly undistinguishable male-dominated
theme bars, and they tend to have carefully structured seating
arrangements that prevent too much social interaction between strangers
women are often quarantined in 'family only' areas. Bars are open
lunchtime and from 5 to 11 pm. Nearly all bars serve snacks.
It manages to squeeze a British pub, German Beer Hall, Wild
West saloon and Manhattan cocktail bar into one room, though you may well
have a problem realising which one you are meant to be in. It's probably
the plushest and most convivial the MG Road area pubs.
On Church St, is decked out like a spaceship and has laser
shows, a young crowed, MTV and mega-decibel music. If you like this place,
you will also like sleazy Underground on MG Road, which is modelled on a
London tube station.
Near Berrys Hotel, has a nifty cubist park bench
arrangements, a few bar stools and, thankfully, no theme decor.
At 50 Residency Road, has quieter music, more expansive
drinks and a cover charge on Friday and Saturday night.
On Airport Road, is where everyone goes when the
other
pubs close. The Plaza on MG Road and the Galaxy on Residency Road both show first-run English-language films. Regional films are best watched at one of the many cinemas along KG Road in Gandhi Nagar.
